Modern Renaissance Review

After finally getting my hands on the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette, I thought it was about time I do a review for you guys.

So, my sisters bought me the palette from Beauty Bay for my birthday. It was £41 and delivery was free. On the ABH website the palette is $42 (£34.35), however shipping to the UK is $17.95 (£14.68) which means its cheaper to buy it from Beauty Bay.

I love the soft velvet feel of the cover of the palette and think it's super cute. A lot of people say that due to the material of the front of the palette, it gets dirty really quickly but I have had mine for over a month now and it is in the same condition as when I got it (although I am quite of a neat freak so everything always has to be clean). It's sturdy and a good size to be able to keep in your makeup bag, especially for travelling.

By far, my favorite shade is Vemeer, an iridescent powder pink. I use this shade mainly to brighten up the inner corner of my eyes as it is so bright and also to highlight on my brow bone. Out of all the palettes I have, Vemeer is the best inner corner shade. It lasts the whole night and looks as good as it did when I first put it on to when I get home.

My favorite look that I've created using this palette are:

  • Venetian Red with Love Letter - all over the crease
  • Red Ochre - building up slowly in the outer corner of my eye to create a deeper tone
  • Burnt Orange - on my outer eye lid to the middle of the lid
  • Buon Fresco - from the inner corner of my eye to meet Burnt Orange
  • Vemeer- on the inner corner of my eye to brighten it up
  • (I use a Make Up Revolution Awesome Eye Foil in Rose Gold on the middle of my eye lid to add sparkle/glitter to the look. I love anything sparkly!)

A little goes a long way! Personally, I find that it's important to always make sure there's never a lot of product on my brush before using this palette. This is because once on, the shadows aren't as easy to blend as some of the other palettes I have used (Chocolate Bar).

I haven't actually used the brush that Modern Renaissance comes with, but I have heard that it is actually quite good if you compare it with the low quality brushes some palettes come with.

The brushes I used with this palette are:
  • Luxe Soft Definer - Zoeva
  • 217 Blending Brush - MAC
  • 239 Eye Shader Brush - MAC
  • Bonus Sharpener - Real Techniques

This is now my go to palette for an everyday simple look and an all out night look. The shades are very pigmented which adds to the fact that it will last all day/night. Do you need it? No. Will you regret buying it? no way! I think for the price (£42) it is, it is totally worth the money! Considering you get 14 eye shadows and duel sided soft bristle brush.

I really hope this was helpful in helping you make your decision whether to buy this palette or not. If there are any other product reviews you would like me to do, please let me know.

Love Zayna x
